SWEET TREATS TO BEAT THE HEAT

SWEET TREATS TO BEAT THE HEAT

Chocolate, vanilla, pecan, mint chocolate chip. Whatever your favorite flavor, Charlottesville's ice cream and frozen yogurt shops have something to suit your taste. Warm summer days and nights are ice cream's time to shine, and melt and make you happy.

Chap's Ice Cream

Charlottesville’s most nostalgic ice cream parlor, Chap’s Ice Cream on the Downtown Mall is the perfect place to stop for a cone, then stroll the Downtown Mall with your sweetie or the whole family. If you’re feeling extra indulgent, go for an old-fashioned banana split.

Kilwins

Another hot spot for cold treats on the Downtown Mall, Kilwins has its very own proprietary ice cream, with dozens of flavors to choose from. And ice cream isn’t the only sweet treat you’ll find inside: cookies and fudge take things to a whole ‘nother level.

La Flor Michoacana

Charlottesville’s only authentic Mexican ice cream shop, La Flor Michoacana has non-dairy popsicles and ice cream on a stick. Unique flavors like avocado, Thai tea and Tequila are big draws, but they have all the basics, too, if you prefer traditional chocolate or vanilla.

Kohr Brothers

You’ll know you’ve arrived at Kohr Brothers when you spot the giant soft-serve cone out front. And you won’t want to leave until you’ve indulged your appetite for soft-serve frozen custard. It’s what summer’s all about!

Moo Thru

The newest arrival to the Charlottesville ice cream scene, Moo Thru in the Dairy Market may already be familiar to some. It started in a red barn on James Madison Highway, where it built a loyal following among those traveling between D.C. and Charlottesville.
