5 UNIQUE BOUTIQUES FOR A TRULY C’VILLE STAY
Gotta get away? Charlottesville’s array of inns, hotels, and unhotels (just wait for it) provide lots of options for your home away from home. Here are five of our favorites unique and boutique, locally owned hotels.
Quirk Hotel Charlottesville
499 W. Main St., 729-1234
The newest addition to Charlottesville’s hotel scene (and the sister to Richmond’s own uber-popular version), Quirk’s modern vibes are an Instagrammer’s dream. Between the millennial pink accents, its gallery featuring local artists, and the rooftop bar—not to mention the guest rooms—there’s a photo-op around every corner. Grab a coffee (in a pink cup!) before you head out to explore.
The Townsman
211 W. Main St., 260-7145
Billing itself as an “unhotel,” The Townsman is traditional in décor (the four rooms each have themes tied to Virginia) but not in process. Your reservation comes with codes for the front door and your own, which makes check-in so simple. Bonus: A night’s stay gains you access to nearby Common House, a members-only club where you can work, play, drink—or all three.
The Clifton
1926 Clifton Inn Dr., 971-1800
A rebrand in 2018 gave this already stunning country property (a 19-acre lake! An infinity pool under a canopy of trees! Blue Ridge Mountain views!) a full facelift, from outfitting its 20 rooms to painting its bar and lounge areas in saturated jewel tones. The result? A perfect, stylish getaway for those who still want to be close to the city (The Clifton is 15 minutes from downtown).
Oakhurst Inn
122 Oakhurst Cir., 872-0100
Located in a National Historic District near UVA, the Oakhurst Inn’s two Craftsman-era buildings boast plenty of noteworthy high-touch details, including white noise machines in each room and cookies by your bedside at turndown (plus a few for the road if you ask nicely). Not to mention, also on the property, a salt water pool, meeting and event space, and its gourmet café, with coffee to go and breakfast to stay. Pro tip: Order the eggs Benny. Use booking code “Stay” to receive 10% off your reservation.
Graduate Charlottesville
1309 W. Main St., 295-4333
Right in the center of Hooville—literally steps from Grounds—sits The Graduate, a campy (in the best way) spot that gets an A+ from us. Post-pandemic, grab a seat at Camp Ten Four, the hotel’s ninth-floor “mess hall,” where you can get sheet pan nachos and panoramic views of the city.
