Mount Ida Tasting Room + Taphouse
The Tasting Room + Taphouse at Mount Ida Reserve - weddings, vineyards, farm brewed beers, + full kitchen
The vineyards at Mount Ida Reserve span 27 acres between our High Ridge vineyard just over the hill from the Tasting Room to the north and Bell Mount vineyard overlooking historic Mount Ida Manor.
Our 5000 acre reserve’s position in the rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge creates ideal sloped land for growing. During harvest our fruit is picked by hand, never machinery, to preserve the quality of the grapes.
The wine maker
Frantz Ventre has more than 30 years of progressive experience in winemaking and
vineyard management. He started his career in his home town of Bordeaux, France at the age of 16 and soon moved to Charlottesville where he began as an intern and then operations manager at Jefferson Vineyard.
Frantz brings a unique perspective to Mount Ida’s wine program by combining traditional and old world experience with his interest in experimentation.

The Brewery
The brewery team, lead by Jacque Landry, has the unique advantage of customizing our ingredients and our process. We are hands on from the very beginning of the operation when we plant our barley on the reserve. We showcase and take pride in the land that we call home and are truly a farm-to-pint Charlottsville brewery.
The grains are malted locally by Murphy and Rude.
With the this kind of control over the process we are able to experiment and get creative with our craft beer.
The four-season outdoor bar is enclosed and heated through the fall and winter. Take in the mountain views or watch our brewmaster at work through oversized windows looking into our brewery. The game is always playing on the big screen TV.
The space also functions as our pizza kitchen. On special weekends you’ll find the kitchen team tossing dough and fire-cooking pies.
