Why have less 'scato when you can have mo 'scato? 🍷😌 We love a good vineyard visit, and I had to make a dedicated post to tell y'all about the newest tasting room in Keswick! Talk about love at first sip. 🥰

When we visited Charlottesville, we journeyed about 9 miles outside the city to a rustic town called Keswick - the surrounding area is a treasure trove of boutique wineries. 🙌 However, merriemillfarmandvineyard was the stop of the day.

The new tasting room is expertly-decorated with bright pops of pink and teal and whimsical sculptures. 🤩 Outside, the views are breathtaking, as the sun shines on rows of dewy vines dripping with grapes and mountaintops in the distance. 🍇

But, the real showstopper was the main event: the wine! 🤤 The wine flight came with 5 different varietals - two whites, two reds and a rosé. My favorite was the Viognier (vee-own-yay if you're wondering!).

Of course, you come for the wine - but what makes visiting a vineyard different is the whole sha-bang.💥 The experience. With live music, a gorgeous outdoor backdrop, great wine and charcuterie, and an eclectic tasting room. The whole day felt like I snagged a main character role in a Hallmark film. 🤣

Gah. I’m so excited for all that’s happening with putting my art out there! When we’re obedient, God sure does show up! I’m very humbled by all that’s unfolded the last couple of weeks.
•
I’ll be one of several artists at an art show this Thursday here in RVA to benefit the recovery community. I couldn’t be happier to be present and for my work to hopefully sell like hotcakes for a great cause! Come by and see me and browse the work of local artists. And support intotheneighborhood and makestudio and all the beauty these two non-profits are doing in Richmond!

I will also be featuring my work at an art exhibition merriemillfarmandvineyard on Friday, September 16th. Fall-like weather near the mountains, art and a winery? I’m there! Come take a drive into the country and come see all the beauty!

I also finalized last week that 8-10 of my large pieces will be adorning the walls of tastehilltop in January! Y’all. TASTE! This is soo fun! My pieces will be up for six months! JD and I will make a night of it in Virginia Beach and travel over the second week of January with art in tow for the install. Just pinch me.

As if that’s not enough, I just sent an email off of my work to lizapruitt for an open call for emerging artists! Eek! Having her representation would be truly fabulous!

Goodness! It is hard to pick just 10 pictures from a 4 day vacation! We headed to Orange, VA - only 1.5 hours from home - and had THE BEST time.

1) We stayed innatwillowgrove and it was DIVINE. The service was top-to-bottom perfect... everyone, to a person, was professional and delightful. The grounds are gorgeous. Our room was big, private, and comfy. The morning coffee service was a delight and Vintage, the restaurant at the Inn, was everything you want dining out to be.

2) We hired a driver and went wine tasting. This was complete extravagance to have someone else drive us through the Virginia countryside! We visited 3 wineries in 5 hours and had a LOVELY time.

3) We had a dreamy spa day at the on-site millhousespa - it was total indulgence and we both walked out on a cloud. That evening we went into town to have dinner forkedonmain which is the sister restaurant to the one at the Inn. It was *extra* delightful as the manager at Forked had been our server for Thanksgiving dinner back at the Inn and when we walked in she greeted us like family ❤ and even put on my husband's football game🏈.

4) I geeked out on a private house tour jmmontpelier and then we explored the beautiful grounds. This experience is going to get its own post. On our way home we stopped for ice cream moothru because every awesome getaway should end with ice cream!

A collection of dried fern specimens c.1840. Manuscripts on verso dates Dublin 1842, a few signed CBG, mostly all identified with Latin names.

You can find this beautifully curated wall at merriemillfarmandvineyard alongside our previous staircase hang of framed dried seaweed specimens.

A collaboration between great teams of talented creatives, theholwellcollection sourced the pressed ferns and a selection of antique European frames before shipping them to cavallo.gallery who carefully matted and installed the delicate work in their studio.

What are your plans this weekend?! I had fun yesterday visiting a few wineries in Charlottesville, I tubed down the James River today and have plans to hit up a rooftop bar tonight! Tomorrow is the beach to celebrate the 4th ❤️🤍💙
